History of the Institution
Based on the fundamental conviction that education can provide the answers to some of the greatest challenges to 21st century, Pragati College of Education began its journey from 1st July, 2014. Brainchild of Pragati Educare Foundation, this college is recognized by NCTE and affiliated to the University of North Bengal. This premier institute shot to fame within a short span of time while advancing in accomplishment of achieving the agenda of UNESCO ‘Education 2030’. The institute is located in a strategic position, well connected and accessible to all, in the lap of Himalayas. This college stands in the educational hub area of Siliguri attracting students from the hills, plains and the neighboring SARC countries.

Mission of Pragati College of Education is to strengthen the educational and knowledge base for promoting education for peace and sustainable development. Significant Achievements, if any

The first batch students of (2014-15 session) performed remarkably in their Examinations. 95.87 % of students scored First Division and 4 students stood under top 10 at university level. The institute secured first place in District Level Dance competition organized by RAWA (Renaissance Artists Writers association), Kolkata, and secured Second place in State Level Dance competition organized by RAWA (Renaissance Artists Writers association), Kolkata.

Contributions in the field of Education

The Institution regularly organizes Educational Camps for awareness for education among the deprived sections of the societies. Linguistic Workshops, Book Exhibitions, Field Surveys, Science Trips, are structured on regular basis for the student teachers of this institution.

Grievance Redressal Mechanism Details

The students are the main stakeholders in any institution imparting education, and it’s our endeavour to make all efforts to ensure transparency in all the activities at different stages. Taking this spirit in consideration the institute has decided to provide mechanism to students for Redressal of their grievances The college is having its own grievance Redressal system. The function of the cell is to look into the complaints lodged by student teachers. The Grievance cell is also empowered to look into matters of harassment. Anyone with a genuine grievance may approach the committee in person, in case the person is unwilling to appear in self, grievances may be dropped in writing at the letterbox/ suggestion box of the Grievance Cell .

Anti Ragging Mechanism Details

Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in this college . The college shall take strict action including but not limited to criminal proceeding and/or cancellation of admission against those found guilty of ragging and/or of abetting ragging and the burden of proof shall hereby lie on the perpetrator of alleged ragging and not on the victim. An offence of Ragging may be charged either on a written complaint by the affected or on independent finding of the Anti Ragging Cell. The College is bound by the UGC Regulations on 'Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions 2009'. The college has founded an Anti – Ragging Cell which governs the prevention of any means of Ragging either within or outside the college. There have been no incidents of Ragging till date. It is mandatory for all the students and parents to submit an affidavit in the prescribed format given on https://www.antiragging.in/Site/Affidavits_registration_form.aspx and submit the affidavit on the day of admission at the college office. Failing to comply with the above requirements will result in cancellation of admission.
